Tom (portrayed by Robert "Bob" Clendenin) is Jules' recently widowed neighbor, who desperately wants to be a member of The Cul-de-Sac Crew and date Jules.
Biography[]
Dr. Thomas Gazelian, MD, commonly known merely as Tom is one of Jules' neighbors living on Freeling Drive in Gulfhaven. Tom works as the head neurosurgeon at Gulfhaven Memorial Hospital.[1]
Tom is an Armenian, thus having the suffix -ian in his family name. Tom was married for several years, but recently his wife, Joanne, passed away. The couple has two children: Bryce, who's currently serving in the U.S. Marines, and Hayley, who's currently attending law school.[2]
Tom desperately wants to be a member of The Cul-de-Sac Crew, and is romantically/physically attracted to Jules. Tom often attempts to be included in the group by doing odd tasks, like running items between Jules' and Ellie's homes or bring up "Jules' wedding" if the group strays from the topic.[3] Tom even followed the gang to Hawaii uninvited, but was not noticed until the end of their trip.[4]

- Tom makes wine in his garage by stomping grapes with his bare feet, but claims the wine is from his family's vineyard.
- Tom's wife Joanne is deceased. She was fairly social, and because of her death, Tom has been very lonely which is why he tries so hard to be included in The Cul-de-Sac Crew.[5]

- "Tom" is the second physician character Bob Clendenin has played in a Bill Lawrence production. Clendenin also played Dr. Paul Zeltzer, a oncologist at Sacred Heart Hospital on Scrubs.
- Tom built a model replica of the cul-de-sac in his garage, complete with miniature doll replicas of The Cul-de-Sac Crew. He uses these dolls to act out his fantasies.
